Be Jogging Confident

Jogging is far better than the gym. There are many reasons why going jogging is preferable to driving through rush-hour traffic in order to be crammed into a stinking, sweaty, over-expensive gym. Such as: a) going jogging is free. You can do it wherever you like whenever you like and b) you actually get to breathe in real air as opposed to air-conditioned nonsense. You can do it with friends or alone, too. Here are a few important points to remember when you go jogging:
Pace yourself and jog regularly: your body won’t be able to get used to jogging unless you actually practice it. Contrary to popular belief, it doesn’t help your body at all to wait three weeks and let your body ‘recuperate’. The body needs to know who is boss. That means showing it that you will jog at least three times a week, whether it wants to comply or not.
You don’t need to jog fast: jog at a pace which suits your running style and the terrain. Don’t keep running if you feel thoroughly exhausted either. Twenty minutes is enough at first. In time you’ll see that you can jog for longer and the effects won’t be so long lasting.
Listen to music while jogging: jogging without music can be very dull and highly boring. You count every foot-step, and generally the whole ordeal feels like a chore. With music blaring you can sing along (once you have enough breath to) and your feet will run in time to the beats. That means that you’ll start to forget about the effort you’re putting in, and you’ll really start to enjoy it.
Keep a target in mind at all times: strap on your saucony running shoes say to yourself “I am going to do three laps of this park no matter what” and keep to it. It takes some determination to begin with, but after several months you’ll begin to feel at home. You’ll even start to enjoy yourself.
