Be Sure To Stretch

Many people are put off from jogging after they pull a muscle, or stress their ligaments. The key, as with anything intensely physical, is to prepare properly before you start jogging, start by buying some comfortable and quality running clothing. And don’t think that just because you are jogging slowly you are exempt from the same rule as the guy in the park who has been jogging for years and regularly laps you. Everybody needs to stretch, even the most honed athletes in the world who have bodies conditioned by many years of training in the field.

The reason why some people don’t bother to stretch is not only because they don’t know how to, but because, let’s face it, you do look a bit daft stretching with your leg on a bench / wall and waving your arms about in a tracksuit. But what would you prefer? To spend five minutes preparing correctly, or suffer for the next week in the office because if your overwhelming pride?

And it doesn’t take long to stretch. All you need is five minutes of doing the correct moves, and you’ll be good to go. These exercises can be found both in books and online. Most of them will hurt you a little bit if you’re not used to doing them, but your body will very quickly get used to this, and the discomfort of getting used to preparing the muscles is nothing when compared with the pain of a burning ligament.

Now, one could be forgiven for thinking that it’s only the legs that need to be stretched. But what about the upper body? Surprisingly, the upper body and arms get almost as much as a workout as the legs. They are constantly moved and used to drive your body forward, so make sure that you pay both the legs and the arms attention.
